introduction to the chroot.dev commands
SYNOPSIS
ssh |
chroot.dev [--json]
command [argument ...] |
ssh |
-t chroot.dev |
DESCRIPTION
Everything in chroot.dev is a command sent over ssh(1) to chroot.dev: the account, the VMs, who reaches their web pages. There is no web console and nothing to install.
With a command, ssh
runs it and exits. With -t and no command, it opens
a shell where commands are typed without the ‘ssh
chroot.dev’ prefix; help lists them
and exit leaves. Without -t,
commands can be piped in, one per line.
Every command accepts --json, which prints
the result as JSON instead of text. The same commands run over HTTPS with a
token; see api(7).
VMs are reached by name: ‘ssh
vm+name@chroot.run’ for a shell and
https://name.chroot.run for
the web page.
Each command has its own page, listed in the manual index: https://chroot.dev/man/.
EXAMPLES
List the VMs as JSON and keep only the names:
$ ssh chroot.dev ls --json | jq -r '.[].name'
Run several commands in one connection:
$ printf 'stop web\nstart web\n' | ssh chroot.dev
